ROHIT GIJARE
ROHIT GIJARE is a renowned Choreographer, Dancer, Creator based in New York City. Born in India and raised in America, Rohit strives to blend and amalgamate the best of both his cultures. Dancing since the age of 3, Rohit received formal training in Kathak, an Indian Classical, from his Guru Archana Joglekar. He further went on to expand his training in Western forms such as Hip Hop & Street Jazz through classes at Broadway Dance Center.
As a Sophomore in college Rohit became a Principle Choreographer for his first-ever touring Bollywood production. After working on this show Rohit shifted his focus on become a solo artist. This shift in career path came with it’s fair share of trials and tribulations. Struggles with class attendance for his workshops and finding consistent work was hard. But Rohit kept course, kept training and through this he was able to find his niche and create a unique space for himself.
Rohit took the national spotlight for the first time when he was crowned Runner Up on the hit Indian television show, Dance India Dance. From there his creative work took off. Rohit’s growing YouTube presence has to led to collaborations with artists globally. Most notably, Rohit choreographed and danced in Vidya Vox’s “Ambarsariya” music video. Rohit also returned back to his roots as he was brought on as Director of Choreography for Bollywood Boulevard, a nationally touring production which first premiered at the Lincoln Center Out of Doors Festival.
His continued growth has led to choreography for two NBA Halftime Shows for the 76ers & performances at BuzzFeed, Spotify, LVHM, Etsy, Neuman’s Kitchen, Sling TV & JetBlue. As a content creator Rohit’s videos have gone viral for his latest #HusbandAndWife Series & his class videos amassing over 350K subscribers. Rohit’s love for teaching and passing on knowledge to students has created a unique, one of a kind community. Rohit continues to teach regularly and now also holds workshop tours in cities around the country.
